There is no doubt that nowadays we need to hire a Waste Service to handle the way we process our garbage. In some countries the law obligates companies to hire professional services from registered Waste Service companies.
But what about households and general people that aren’t required to have a Waste Service contract by law. Do they really need it? Can they handle their waste on their own?
The truth is that we all can collaborate to the well being of our planet. We don’t need professionals to handle our garbage. We can do it ourselves and it shouldn’t be difficult at all.
The best practice doesn’t consist on handling our garbage in the best way or hiring someone to do it. The best practice is to produce less garbage. But can we really do this? Studies show that yes, we can. In fact every day people tend to produce more food garbage than anything else. We buy things we don’t need and in the end this stuff ends p in our bins. It is such a shame considering that there is a huge amount of people suffering from hunger in certain parts of the world.
We only need to plan what we are going to cook during the week and then go to the shop and buy only what we need. This could be difficult but it is a good idea to keep a list on our fridge door in order to know what is inside and what is needed for next week.
Recycling is also another good way to reduce the amount of waste we produce. Let’s start with paper. If you have some old books that you are thinking on throwing away why don’t you try to sell them first on websites like ebay or amazon? If you don’t have the time to do this at least drop them in the nearest library. There are books that we know we won’t read ever again and we still keep them knowing that later when we will need space we will have to put them away. This is really unfair to the planet.
The same goes for toys and unused objects. Don’t put them in the bin is somebody else could use them. Go to charity shops and drop them there or you can donate them to charities. There are things that we throw away not because they are broken but just because we don’t need them.
Lets remember that if we share our stuff then people will need to buy lees new stuff. This means that the demand for good would decrease and therefore produce will produce less which means that less raw materials would be consumed.
